MANAMA, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) — Bahrain government dismissed Thursday connection with the death of a Bahraini youth who had been arrested on charges of rioting. Mohammed Ibrahim Yacoup, 19, died at hospital on Wednesday night and the opposition blamed the police forces that arrested him for his death.
A spokesperson of Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said in a statement that the youth died of natural causes, adding that he was arrested along with others who were involved in rioting in the area of Sitra.
“Shortly after his arrest, the youth complained of health complications as he suffered from sickle cell anemia that needs special medical attention,” the spokesperson said.
“He was referred to the state-run hospital and provided with health care but he died later,” he added. The Public Prosecution will carry out a autopsy on the deceased.
