Bahrain braced for election protests – Bahrain Freedom Movement

BAHRAIN has increased pressure on anti-government activists prior to elections this weekend, warning they could face jail for urging protests or other acts of dissent.

Some Shi’ite-led groups are calling for escalated protests to press demands for greater rights from the Sunni monarchy. The voting tomorrow is for 18 parliament seats abandoned by Shiite MPs six months ago in protest over the crackdowns.
