Yes Sir Opposition – Bahrain Freedom Movement

27/11/2006 – 4:27 am | Hits: 1746

Some of the former opposition leaders won in the shame elections which took place in Bahrain and now became members of the so called parliament. However, one has to ask: does Bahrain really have a parliament? Before answering the question let us define what a parliament is. An acclaimed definition suggests a parliament is a freely and completely elected body by the people to legislate laws that will be executed by the executive body or the government of a country. This definition clearly conveys that what we have in Bahrain is not a parliament, because it isn’t elected freely or completely, and can not legislate laws. Then if an assembly can not legislate laws then it is not a parliament, but it is an assembly propped and supported by the government to advance the governmental agendas. Thus, what we have in Bahrain is an assembly that contains members of “Yes Sir Opposition” work to progress the government’s programs and not the people’s rights or dreams.
