Elections do not mean Democracy – Bahrain Freedom Movement

19/11/2006 – 11:40 p | Hits: 1981

You might wonder what kind of title is this; and why elections do not mean democracy. The answer is simple; elections may strengthen democracy in a free country where the rights of its citizens are preserved. However, in Bahrain elections are one of the vital tools for the authoritarian Al-Khalifa ruling family to strengthen its rule. The Bahraini government which is fully controlled by the Al-Khalifa family uses the elections to further suppress the God given rights of the people of Bahrain. The Bahraini government uses the elections to change the country’s demographic, eradicated free speech, free expression, any voice of descent, open its prisons to human rights and political activists, and to rule the country with an iron fist. Thus, the elections in Bahrain mean tyranny and more tyranny and not democracy. So the word is elections in Bahrain do not translate into democracy but translate into dictatorship.
